Events and announcements – two things to keep in mind this week

Naturally there’s always something going on in Vancouver around craft beer but today I wanted to highlight two things you may have missed.

Victoria Beer Week Contest

Victoria Beer Week Contest

Victoria Beer Week is running a fantastic contest. In partnership with Harbour Air and Swans Hotel, VBW is giving away two getaway packages to celebrate this year’s festival.

The Opening Weekend prize pack includes round-trip flights between Vancouver and Victoria through Harbour Air and a two night stay at Swan’s Hotel. Winners also get two tickets to three events:

  • Friday Night Casks – Friday, March 3rd
  • All About the Wood OR Fishing for Beer – Saturday, March 4th
  • Beer School (both classes) – Sunday, March 5th

The Closing Weekend prize pack includes round-trip flights and two nights at Swans as well, with two tickets to the two events:

  • Friday Night Casks – Friday, March 10th
  • Lift Off! – Saturday, March 11th

The contest closes on February 24th and is only open to Lower Mainland residents so get your entries in ASAP!

Events and Announcements Soiree Dieu du Ciel

Soirée Dieu du Ciel

Have you heard of Microbrasserie Dieu du Ciel out of Montréal? If not, this event is a great way to find out what they have on offer.

I’ve only ever had the occasional bottle from this outstanding Canadian brewery or a small sample from a beer festival.  In both cases I was impressed by what they brought to the table.  Getting a chance to try some more of their beer in Vancouver – let alone up to 12 different taps and bottles – is going to be amazing.

The Soiree takes place at Steel Toad Brewpub and Dining Hall on West 2nd Avenue in Vancouver.  Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite and go for $40.  Your ticket includes a tasting glass and four complimentary beers as well as an assortment of Montréal-inspired food such as poutine and smoked meat sandwiches.  Not only will there be a chance to try their excellent beers, this event will also feature Founder and Master Brewer Jean Francois Gravel who will speak to his passion and intention with their beers.
