Try this beer – Ravens Brewing Co. Hot Chocolate Porter
Last week Ravens Brewing Company in Abbotsford, BC released their Hot Chocolate Porter. You need to try this beer.
This time last year, the Hot Chocolate Porter was released and sold out almost instantly. So after much contemplation the crew at Ravens decided to double production on this year’s run to ensure there was enough to meet demand.
The result? The beer was released and sold out almost instantly. Pretty much a carbon copy of 2015.
But what does that mean? Surely you can still get some?
What it means is that all of the beer they allotted for bottle and keg sales outside of the brewery was snatched up, so once your local pub or bottle shop runs out, this beer is gone for another year.
Why the recommendation?
So beyond the rarity, why am I recommending you try this beer? Well, because I had some Hot Chocolate Porter as a beer float with vanilla ice cream and it was amazing.
But beyond my own indulgence though, this beer is really, really chocolatey. Just what you’d expect from a beer made with cocoa nibs from Abbotsford chocolatier ChocolaTas. That chocolate aroma and flavour is ever present in this beer, making the name actually rather accurate: this beer does taste like hot chocolate. You almost feel as though you could warm this beer up, drop in some mini marshmallows, and go to town.
This is the first beer that I’ve had this season to make me feel like winter is just around the corner. That’s why I recommend grabbing a bottle for yourself or to share if you see it at your local store.
Cheers!
