A few more craft beer gift ideas for any last minute folks on your list
Two weeks back I gave you some gift ideas for anyone on your list that loves craft beer. With Christmas just over one week away you may still be struggling to find the right gift so I thought I’d share a few more gift ideas that could be the perfect fit.
Gift Cards for their favourite brewery
Plenty of local breweries are offering gift cards for the season and these are great gift ideas for that someone special. Another advantage to gift cards is that they are a great way to encourage your beer loving friends to buy you a beer!
There are plenty of options to choose from but why not take an opportunity to try one of the newer breweries in town? Faculty Brewing on Ontario Street, Strathcona Brewing on Hastings, and Luppolo Brewing on Venables have all opened up this year! If you haven’t had a chance to visit any of them, grabbing a gift card is a great excuse to make your first visit.
R&B Mini Growler
Recently R&B Brewing brought out “The 16”, a 16 oz mini-growler that is even smaller than the pint-sized growlers available at some other breweries. This wee one is an adorable way to give someone a single serving of beer. Its small size makes it a perfect stocking-stuffer so it’s a great gift, or grab one for yourself if you need a little something beer related to get you through Christmas morning.
The 16 from R&B will run you $4. The only thing is that R&B can’t currently fill them for you due to licencing issues, but since you’re in Brewery Creek to pick it up, you can easily visit Brassneck Brewery for a fill since they are allowed to fill growlers of that size. If that level of inconvenience isn’t your bag, the pint growlers from Brassneck are a perfectly serviceable alternative.
It may come as a surprise but it’s already possible to purchase tickets for a couple of great BC beer festivals upcoming in 2017. For any lover of craft beer, a festival ticket makes a great gift and something that can be shared with others as well.
Sunshine Coast Beer Festival is ready to go for February 2017 at a new location in downtown Gibsons at the Gibsons Public Market. Head over for the day and check out Persephone Brewing or stay the night and enjoy the local hospitality – and the festival after party! See my post from the 2016 festival to know what to expect. Tickets available now on Eventbrite.
Victoria Beer Week goes from March 3rd to March 11th this year and there are plenty of events on offer to wet your whistle. I’ve attended two years running and loved it both times. Check out my post from 2015 or my post photo essay from 2016 if you’re wondering what it’s like. I’d highly recommend getting across to Victoria for at least a couple of events if you can. Check out the full schedule with tickets here.
The Okanagan Fest of Ale is selling early-bird passes to the Penticton-based beer festival until December 24th. 2017 will mark the 22nd year of the festival making it one of the longest running beer festivals in the region. The festival usually sells out so getting tickets early and at a discount is always a great idea. Check out festofale.ca for more details or get your tickets here.
Give the gift of a brewery tour to your favourite beer lover! Vancouver Brewery Tours is offering a holiday gift certificate that includes some extra perks including a glass, a growler and a free growler fill so definitely don’t miss out on that. Other tour companies are great options for group tours around the holiday season and beyond so be sure to check out Vine & Hops, and Canadian Craft Tours and see what tours would fit your group’s bill.
Naturally there’s always something on offer from your local craft brewery too, whether you pick up a bomber bottle, a toque, or an insulated growler, there’s bound to be something for that beer lover on your list when you head down for a visit.
